Mission for our benefice churches

christmas-tree-1411315-sThe benefice churches gave out a Tea light and prayer bookmark to passers-by at the switch on of the Christmas lights at Hedon

Everyone was asked to light the tea-light and say the prayer when the 1st bright star appears on Christmas Eve.  We hope and pray this helps to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and the love shared.

It was great to get  such a lovely  warm response from everyone.  May the light of the candle bring you peace, love and hope at this special time

We Will Remember our Heroes

three-poppy-flowers-1382008-s

They shall grow not old, They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.  We will remember them.

From Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen, written in September 1914

We will always remember those who though so bravely for our life style to-day, you are our heroes

There will be no peace, There will be no peace:
till attitudes change;  till self-interest is seen as part of common interest;
till old wrongs, old scores, old mistakes  are deleted from the account;
till the aim becomes co-operation and mutual benefit  rather than revenge or seizing maximum personal or group gain;
till justice and equality before the law  become the basis of government;
till basic freedoms exist;  till leaders – political, religious, educational – and the police and media
wholeheartedly embrace the concepts of justice, equality, freedom, tolerance, and reconciliation as a basis for renewal;
till parents teach their children new ways to think about people. There will be no peace:
till enemies become fellow human beings.
